Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
In short: apart from identity-free usage counters, Kumsal collects no data about you.
Kumsal is a personal chord notebook and repertoire app for guitar players. Our approach to privacy is simple: your data belongs to you, and it never reaches us.
- We collect no personal data. Kumsal does not collect, store, or share personal information, location, identifiers, or anything else that could identify you.
- Your data lives on your device and in your own iCloud. Your songs, lists, notes, and settings are stored only on your device and โ if iCloud is enabled โ in your own private iCloud space tied to your Apple ID. No one, including the developer, can access this data.
- The microphone is used only for tuning. The tuner uses the microphone only while the Tuner screen is open. Audio is processed on your device in real time; it is never recorded, stored, or transmitted. When you leave the Tuner screen, microphone access is fully released. You can change the microphone permission at any time in iPhone Settings › Privacy › Microphone.
- Anonymous usage statistics. To understand which features are used, we collect identity-free, aggregate counters (e.g. "tuner opened"). This data cannot be linked to you; your songs, searches, and personal information are never transmitted. We use the privacy-focused TelemetryDeck service for this.
- No ads, no tracking. The app contains no ad networks and no tracking technologies; apart from the identity-free counters described above, no analytics are performed.
- No account required. You don't need to sign up, log in, or provide any information to use Kumsal. The optional name you enter in the app is stored only on your device and is used only to greet you.
- Web content. Websites you visit through the in-app web view are subject to their own privacy policies; Kumsal does not collect this browsing data.
- Files you export. Where you save your backup and list files, and who you share them with, is entirely under your control.
If this policy changes, the current version will be published on this page.
